projects
As dedicated professionals within the development sector, our collective mission revolves around empowering the Maasai youth, women, and men, with the aim of fostering enhanced resilience in their livelihoods.
Rooted in an ancient culture centered on pastoralism, the Maasai community has encountered challenges stemming from shifts in socio-political landscapes and the evolving climate, leading to a gradual erosion of their traditional way of life.
permaculture
Our Permaculture & Learning Center is expected to begin construction in Q4-2023 during the Short Rains.
As we are located in the semi-arid drylands of Southern Kenya and experience prolonged droughts, we shall need to raise funds and drill a borehole as there are no natural water sources on the property or the immediate surroundings.
Echoes of History
Where life is simple and Nature restores the soul...
The Smiling Bushpig Eco Camp & Backpackers is a small-scale social enterprise constructed by local Maasai youths from locally available natural resources.
Our camp got its name from two African warthogs that make their home on the property. The word ‘Kikurukurr’ in the Maa language means ‘A place of much wind’ whilst ‘Maji Moto’ in kiSwahili means ‘Hot Water’ on account of the permanent Hot Spring in the area.
We believe that everyone – including those on a shoestring budget – should have the opportunity to experience Africa in all her splendor whilst supporting local communities and leaving behind a minimal carbon footprint.
